26 DEC 2020: ONLINE SERVICES ONLY
Sunday services will be ONLINE ONLY during this post-holiday lockdown period.
In-person services are cancelled for 27 Dec, 3 Jan and 10 Jan. Our in-person service schedule will resume as soon as the Scottish Government has indicated it is safe to do so.
29 NOV 2020: RESUMPTION OF SERVICES AT MUC (temporarily halted)
We are very much looking forward to opening up the church again after so many months, but we must proceed with care. The United Reformed Church and the Church of Scotland have given guidelines in conjunction with the Scottish Government, but please bear in mind these guidelines may change.
Services will be fairly short, lasting approximately 30 minutes (similar to what we have been doing on YouTube). Singing is not allowed, but we will all enjoy Max´s playing.
Please enter the church through the Morningside Road main doors. Only the south vestibule and the sanctuary will be open. Please help us keep our community safe by respecting this necessary system.
MASKS and SOCIAL DISTANCING: To accommodate for social distancing, our numbers must be limited. At present with 2-meter social distancing, MUC will seat approximately 30 people. Masks must be worn while inside the church building (except those under the age of 5 or children and adults with exempting health conditions).
TRACK AND TRACE: At the entrance, there will be a system to register names, addresses, and contact numbers of attendees. This is to support contact tracing as part of NHS Scotland’s Test and Protect system. These records are temporary, will be treated confidentially and destroyed after 3 weeks.
CLEANING: The church has been deep cleaned and a regular cleaning system is in place. There will be hand sanitizing stations at the entrance and the toilet. Please feel free to also bring your own hand sanitizer. The pew cushions have been removed. If you wish to bring your own cushion, please do so.
TOILET: The toilet in the entrance vestibule will be open. All others will be closed and off-limits. Because this communal-use space presents a COVID hazard, please follow these guidelines:
SEATING: Please remember to social distance when moving about. There will be indicators to show where you can sit and you may be stewarded to your seat. Families of course may sit together but otherwise, we should remain 2 meters apart. Unfortunately, no coffee will be served after the service. Again, masks must be worn during the service and at all times within the church. We ask that you maintain social distance as you leave the church building after service.
If you feel unwell please do not come. If you become unwell while attending church or following your attendance, please let us know.
