Hall lettings

For your next event...

  • If you are interested in renting one of our event spaces, please email the church office at [email protected]. 
  • ​Other spaces (not detailed below) appropriate for small groups may also be available upon request. 
  • Our spaces listed below are suitable for activities of all kinds: from small meetings, seminars, holiday clubs and exhibitions to cultural events, lectures, filming, music rehearsals and concerts.  We accept bookings for parties for young children in the Main Hall and Small Halls; however please note that bouncy castles are not permitted.  

Sanctuary

A spacious and classic venue, perfect for weddings and ceremonies as well as concerts and lectures. This space benefits from two direct entry points from Bruntsfield Avenue, beautiful stained glass windows, a generous staging or gathering area towards the back of the room, and the option of direct access to the McLeish Room for extended reception space.

Main Hall 

Recently refurbished reception hall with stage. Includes easy access to the kitchen, a dedicated entry from Bruntsfield Place, and direct access to the beautiful fully-enclosed church garden.

The McLeish Room

An enclosed central vestibule with direct access to the main entries on Bruntsfield Place and the church sanctuary.

  • Maximum capacity: 25 people

The Small Hall

A spacious classroom-sized event space located directly behind the sanctuary, and accessed via the Chamberlain Rd. entrance.

Creche

A casual and well lit classroom, ideal for projects and small groups.  Limited availability.

Kitchen

A well equipped and centrally located kitchen, appropriate for food prep and staging or as a hub for catering and meal service.
  • Available as an add-on to any event room booking for a £20 flat fee.
  • Terms and conditions apply (see below).

Terms for Booking

Payment terms
  • The minimum rental period is 1 hour; thereafter rooms are charged per 1/2 hour.
  • Charges are agreed at the time of booking and an invoice will be sent.
  • Charges are revised annually in January, but the Church reserves the right to alter prices during the year with prior notice. Please contact the Church Office for current charges at [email protected].  Reduced rates apply for charitable organisations.
  • Payment is due no later than 14 days after the event or monthly for any regular bookings.
  • Payment may be made by cash or cheque (payable to Morningside United Church) using the Church Office post box in the corridor opposite the kitchen, or by electronic means.  Details are given on the invoice.
  • Invoices for one-off bookings will be sent along with building access information approximately one week before the booking.

Regular Bookings
  • Where the hire of the premises is ongoing, a booking form must be signed and returned to the office annually or per term.
  • ​Term dates and schedules must be included. Any holiday dates are to be notified in advance or may be charged.
  • Building access is arranged with the Church Office at the time of booking. Door codes will be supplied.  These details should be restricted to organisers only and not circulated to all attending an event.  

Conditions of premises
  • Tenants accept the premises as being in good condition and repair and as suitable for the purpose for which they intend to use them.
  • Tenants agree to leave the premises in a clean and tidy condition at the end of a period of use.
  • Tenants also agree to pay the cost of making good any damage caused to the Premises through their use of them.

Insurance
  • Tenants shall be responsible for providing adequate insurance for themselves, those associated with them and any equipment and property which they bring into the premises in connection with their use.
  • Tenants shall be responsible for providing adequate Public Liability Insurance in respect of their use of the premises. They shall provide copies of any policies and proof of payment.
  • The church cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage to property as a result of the letting of the Premises.

Security
  • Tenants must ensure all lights are switched off and doors closed when leaving the building.

Kitchen facilities
  • Kitchen access is available for a flat rental fee of £20 per booking.
  • Kitchen rental includes use of the cooker and urns.
  • It is expected that the kitchen will be left tidy and all used items be cleaned after use. Any rubbish should be collected and removed by the tenant at end of the rental period.  
  • Tenants agree to pay the cost of making good any damage caused by their usage of the kitchen or associated equipment.

Under 18's hire
  • Hire of the Premises directly by under 18-year-olds is not permitted. 
  • Any event which includes attendance by those under 18 must have appropriate adult supervision on site at all times.
